I bought half life 2 back on the 19th or Friday I believe; began installing it which took a very long time and then creating a steam account after steam took about a year on my 56k connection to update and then it also had to decrypt itself in order for me to play.
So during the installation of the game I really started thinking; I won and liked half life a lot; even went out a couple years later and bought the platinum edition to play some of the expansions like blue shift.
SInce I'm on 56k I couldn't play counter strike, reason; once everyone notices the sudden lag the admin hit the proverbial
"Get this lagger off my Server" button.

So, half life2 loads up; gman tells me its time for me to kick ass and off I go. 12 hours later; I start getting some epeleptic type symptoms like ringing in my ears (helo noises although I had killed the helo an hour before).
So quit for the time being. Yesterday, I finally beat half life2 after having to take some time off to work and do some school work /man can you believe the stuff that interferes in gaming?

Anyways, I realized once I kept Dr. Breen from going up in the big globe thing that really the story sucked!

The ending was so quick and frankly unfullfiling; at least in halflife original I felt like I had battled life and death after the big fat guy on the platform kept blasting me to death
(I played on the standard level; no game is worth the money if you beat it on easy).

On the actual playing; this game rocked!
The sheer amount of playing variety was great was never disappointed in this; some places got me stuck but once you take a look around it becomes obvious how to get out of the situation. The vehicles were really great;
loved the buggy (the place where you were supposed to use the construction equipment to lift the buggy into the new area was a nice idea and using the magnet to grab the train cars to smash the combine soldiers was neat!
But really; I expect at least some type of conlusion but guess valve wanted to suck up some more money but if you release the original in 1998 (nov) and come out with your newest installment in 2004 (nov)
really you should reveal a little more about the story!

So what did you guys think of the ending?
/ no real spoiler but in case anyone posts any

I am trying to stop that SOB Breen as of this afternoon.
I have heard this one is just setting us up for HL 3 and I am inclined to believe it.
I don't care, I love it.

HL2 is the second chapter of a triogy. Think of it like you would of *gasp* Matrix:Revolutions or SW:ESB, it's meant as a build up, not a conclusion. It's not supposed to answer any questions, rather show you the fallout of HL1 and advance the story up to a cliffhanger ending that will make sure you'll come back for more.

Now that you've finished it, go back and replay it, albeit slowly and do a bit of exploring. I missed out on a lot on my first go. For example, I didn't talk to the Vortiguant that installed the gun on the boat, turns out he had a lot to say

I can't stop Breen after shooting down the gunships.
Or should I just ignore them? What do I shoot with the plasma balls?

don't both shooting the gunship on the left, hid behind the column at the right; kill the right gunship since he has access to you. Then look at the 'bubble' doctor breen is in. As it nears the top; there's a pop and some black door like things pop up that swirl around; quickly grab those plasma balls and shoots those door thingees when they all fall off or are destroyed you win; if not try to do it a little faster; time limit.

took me a day to realize that mistake
